What is activated carbon?
Activated carbon is a form of carbon processed to have a huge internal surface area made of tiny pores. Contaminants in water, air or process liquids stick to that surface (adsorption), which is how activated carbon purifies, decolorizes and removes odors.
What is the price of activated carbon per kg in India?
The price depends on the raw material, the form, the grade specification and the quantity you order. Coconut shell, coal and wood-based carbons are priced differently, and impregnated or food-grade carbons cost more than standard grades. Which activated carbon do I need?
It depends on what you want to remove and from what. Coconut shell carbon suits small molecules such as chlorine and odors, wood-based carbon suits large color molecules, and coal-based carbon is a cost-efficient all-rounder. Granules suit filter beds, powder suits batch dosing and pellets suit gas flows. Our team will recommend a grade for your process.
What is the difference between GAC and PAC?
Granular activated carbon (GAC) is packed into filter beds that water or air flows through, and it can be regenerated. Powdered activated carbon (PAC) is dosed directly into a liquid, works quickly and is then removed by settling or filtration. GAC suits continuous treatment; PAC suits batch processes and short-term problems.
Coconut shell or coal-based: which is better?
Neither is better for every job. Coconut shell carbon is harder, lower in dust and richer in micropores, so it excels with small molecules and in drinking water and gold recovery. Coal-based carbon has a wider pore range and is often more economical for wastewater and industrial treatment.

How often should activated carbon be replaced?
It depends on how much contaminant the carbon removes and the flow it treats. A filter needs new or regenerated carbon when the treated water or air no longer meets your target. Regular testing of the outlet is the most reliable guide, and our team can help you estimate a replacement interval.
