Wood-based activated carbon is made from selected wood raw materials. It has a more open pore structure than coconut shell carbon, with a larger share of the wider pores that large molecules need to enter.
That open structure is ideal for trapping big molecules such as color bodies, which is why wood-based carbon is widely used for decolorization in food, pharmaceutical and chemical processing.
Key properties
- Open pore structure
- Strong decolorizing power
- Suited to large molecular contaminants
- Commonly used as a powder in batch processes
Applications in India
- Decolorization of sugar, syrups and glucose
- Edible oil purification
- Pharmaceutical and API purification
- Chemical purification
- Specialty adsorption processes
Choosing the right grade
For decolorization, the methylene blue value and the molasses decolorizing performance matter more than iodine number. Purity, ash and pH are also important for food and pharmaceutical use.
Send us your application, your current specification if you have one, the quantity you need and your delivery location. Our team will recommend a grade and share its technical data sheet with your quote.
